Progressive Conservative Member of the Legislative Assembly for Riverview, Bruce Fitch is a graduate of Moncton High School and he furthered his studies at Mount Allison University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

After working several years in the insurance industry, he joined Scotia Bank. He ended his banking career as a full-service broker with ScotiaMcLeod.

His political career began in 1989 when he was elected as a councillor for Ward 2 in Riverview. He was mayor from 1998 to 2003. During his tenure on council, he focused on initiatives related to increased building activity, employment, maintaining a high level of programs and services, promoting Riverview as a great place to live, and building positive working relationships with other municipalities.

Mr. Fitch was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the June 9, 2003, provincial election. He was sworn in as Minister of Energy on June 27, 2003. He was appointed Minister of Justice and Consumer Affairs on February 14, 2006.

He was re-elected to the 56th Legislature in the September 18, 2006, provincial election. He was the Official Opposition critic for many areas of interest relating to finance. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Crown corporations.

He was re-elected to the 57th Legislature in the provincial election of September 27, 2010 and was appointed as Minister of Environment and Local Government along with Minister responsible for Service New Brunswick. On March 15, 2012, Mr. Fitch also became Minister responsible for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency of New Brunswick. He was appointed Minister of Economic Development and Minister responsible for Invest New Brunswick on September 19, 2013.

In the provincial election held on September 22, 2014, Mr. Fitch was re-elected for a fourth term, as the MLA for the riding of Riverview. He served as interim leader of the Official Opposition until 2016. Mr. Fitch was re-elected in 2018 to represent Riverview for the fifth term and served as the Minister of Tourism, Heritage, and Culture.

He was re-elected for a sixth term on September 14, 2020, and was sworn-in as the Minister of Social Development until his appointment as Minister of Health in 2022.

Mr. Fitch is a member of the First Baptist Church. His hobbies include golf and kayaking. He coached minor soccer and football in the past. He has been serving his community for many years as a member on a variety of boards.

Mr. Fitch and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 30 years and the couple have three adult children; Lauren, Lucas, and Jenna.
