Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development for New Brunswick and Member of the Legislative Assembly for the riding of Moncton South, Claire Johnson is recognized for her background as a university professor, researcher, activist, and spokesperson on issues related to health and social justice.

She holds a PhD in Population Health from the University of Ottawa, obtained in 2019, as well as a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the Université de Moncton. She served as a professor at the School of Advanced Public Studies (École des hautes études publiques – HEP) at the Université de Moncton, within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her areas of specialization include population health, determinants of health, population nutrition, and public health policy. Her expertise also extends to timely access to primary care and health inequity. In parallel, her career as a dietitian and food management professional has made her a recognized reference in the field of food insecurity.

A mother of three, a proud resident of Moncton and a New Brunswicker, Ms. Johnson embodies an active and balanced lifestyle. She enjoys spending time with her family and taking part in various sports activities across the province, including running, cross-country skiing, and skating. She values physical activity and well-being as key pillars of a healthy life and a healthy community.

Today, she puts her academic expertise, social commitment, and personal experience at the service of families and young people in New Brunswick, with the goal of improving accessibility, quality, and equity within the education system and early childhood services.
