An Act to Amend the Electrical Installation and Inspection Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1 Section 1 of the Electrical Installation and Inspection Act, chapter 144 of the Revised Statutes, 2011, is amended by repealing the definition “Minister” and substituting the following: 
“Minister” means the Minister of Justice and Public Safety and includes any person designated by the Minister to act on the Minister’s behalf. (ministre)
2 The Act is amended by adding after section 3 the following: 
Agreement re issuance of permits
3.1 The Minister may enter into an agreement with a supply authority to issue wiring permits or special wiring permits on behalf of the Minister.
Prior permits
3.2( 1) Any wiring permit or special wiring permit issued before the commencement of this section by the New Brunswick Power Corporation shall be deemed to have been validly issued and is confirmed and ratified.
3.2( 2) No action, application or any other proceeding to question or in which is questioned the validity of a permit referred to in subsection (1) or the authority of the New Brunswick Power Corporation to issue the permit, lies or shall be instituted against any of the following persons, if the New Brunswick Power Corporation acted in good faith in issuing the permit:  
athe Crown in right of the Province;
bthe New Brunswick Power Corporation;
cthe Minister;
dthe Chief Electrical Inspector; and
ean inspector.
3 Subsection 6(2) of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “he or she” and substituting “the Chief Electrical Inspector”.
4 Subsection 7(2) of the English version of the Act is amended in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by striking out “he or she” and substituting “the person”.
5 Section 8 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “his or her” and substituting “their”.
6 Subsection 9(2) of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “he or she” and substituting “the person”.
7 Section 10 of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted: 
10 The Minister is responsible for the administration of this Act and may designate one or more persons to act on the Minister’s behalf.
