An Act to Amend the Ambulance Services Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
Ambulance Services Act
1( 1) Section 1 of the Ambulance Services Act, chapter A-7.3 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1990, is amended
(a)  by repealing the definition “ambulance” and substituting the following:
“ambulance” means a motor vehicle designed or adapted to be used for the transportation of patients and a support vehicle, but does not include an air ambulance; (ambulance)
(b)  by repealing the definition “ambulance attendant” and substituting the following:
“ambulance attendant” means a person who attends patients while they are receiving ambulance services, and includes an ambulance driver; (ambulancier)
(c)  by repealing the definition “operate” and substituting the following:
“operate” means make available for the transportation of patients or for the provision of medical attention to patients; (exploiter)
(d)  in the definition “regional health authority” of the English version by striking out the period at the end of the definition and substituting a semicolon;
(e)  by adding the following definition in alphabetical order:
“support vehicle” means a motor vehicle designed or adapted to be used for the provision of medical attention to patients. (véhicule de soutien)
1( 2) Section 4 of the Act is repealed.
1( 3) Section 22 of the Act is amended
(a)  by repealing paragraph (a) and substituting the following:
(a)  the transportation of patients,
(b)  by adding after paragraph (a) the following:
(a.1)  the provision of medical attention to patients, or
1( 4) Paragraph 28(f) of the Act is amended by striking out “, including committees referred to in this Act,”.
Regulation under the Ambulance Services Act
2( 1) Section 3 of New Brunswick Regulation 92-126 under the Ambulance Services Act is repealed.
2( 2) Section 4 of the Regulation is repealed.
2( 3) Section 5 of the Regulation is repealed.
2( 4) Section 7 of the Regulation is amended
(a)  by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:
7( 1) Each time ambulance services are provided, the person who operates the ambulance shall record the services on a form approved by the Minister.
(b)  in subsection (2) by striking out “the patient is transported” and substituting “ambulance services are provided to the patient”.
2( 5) Subsection 8(3) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “a person requiring transportation by an ambulance” and substituting “a person who receives ambulance services”.
2( 6) Section 8.1 of the Regulation is amended in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by striking out “where the person transported” and substituting “and who”.
2( 7) Section 8.2 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “where the person transported” and substituting “and who”.
